The MSI Wind U100
The MSI Wind U100 has a really great look and feel to it. The soft rounded edges coupled with the glossy texture make it comfortable to grip onto while also giving it a very professional look. No chrome is found anywhere and all the labeling is very discrete.
Build quality is excellent very much like the HP Mini-Note. With smooth, tight plastic seams, beveled edges, and recessed hinges the MSI not only looks great but feels great in your hands as well.
The 10-inch MSI Wind U100 has an LED backlit, matte-textured LCD that is very bright and easy to read. It's 1024x600 resolution produces beautiful and vibrant colors and the contrast is excellent. Viewing angles are wide in both vertical and horizontal planes. With typical netbook screens inverting colors or going distorted with minimal vertical movement the MSI Wind U100's LCD keeps colors true until much steeper angles, even in sunlight!
The Wind really shines with its keyboard, and uses every inch of space side to side to have the largest possible combination of keys on such a small device. The keyboard takes all but 2-3 mm of space going side to side, and is really great to type on even with large hands.
The touchpad is slightly recessed from the palm rest giving a defined edge around it. For small touchpads like this one this can be really handy,as it will keep your finger from accidentally slipping out of the detection zone. The sensitivity is great letting you slide your finger along without excessive pressure for perfect tracking.
The MSI Wind U100 has an impressive list of features including everything you would expect to find on a full-size notebook. Key features include 802.11b/g wireless, Bluetooth 2.0, with USB, VGA-Out, Ethernet, and audio making notable appearances. There's even a 1.3 MPx Webcam and a 4-in-1 Card Reader (SD/MMC/MS/MSpro).
System performance with Intel Atom processor is fantastic. Boot times into Windows XP are on par with many full-size notebooks, and casual use programs open up without any lag.
